About the department
Department of Urdu is one of the youngest Departments of Aliah University. It was started in the year 2015 with few guest lecturers. In the month of September 2017, six permanent faculty members joined the department. Dr. Shaheen Sultana, Associate Professor, joined as Head of the Department of Urdu in September 2017. IN the same month Dr.Drakhshan Zarrin joined the Department as Associate Professor ,now she is working as a Head of Urdu. During these years all faculties has given the Department a complete shape by their academic and administrative capabilities in terms of developing infrastructures and academic resources. The department is one of the vibrant departments in Park Circus campus.
The Department offers Undergradute, Postgraduate and Doctoral Programmes. Apart from teaching, the department has organized numerous memorable and glorious programmes in past years that includes National/International Seminars, Conferences,Memorial Lectures (Specially Maulana Azad Memorial Lecture which was started from 2020 by the Department ) Special Lectures and many social programmes that engage each and every member of the department.
