GEOGRAPHY
The Department of Geography is one of pioneer departments of Aliah University which started functioning since 2009 with Dr. Ashis Kumar Sen (Head), Dr. Md. Mustaquim, Dr. Md. Julfikar Ali and other eminent Professors from Indian Universities and Institutes. The first academic session began with 20 students of 2-Year M.A/M.Sc. and 06 students of 5-Year Integrated M.Sc. in 2009-10. The department presently offers 3-Year B.A./B.Sc. (Hons.) and 2-Year M.A./M.Sc. courses. In addition to it, the Ph.D. degree programme is also conducted by the Department. Research and teaching are given equal importance by the faculty members. Research projects are encouraged to develop innovative and analytical approach to learning. Experts in different allied fields are also invited for interaction and curriculum development, whenever necessary. The Department also plans to develop a state of art Remote Sensing and GIS courses for the students so that they can have access to the most updated knowledge of this branch of Geography which is emerging as a potential area of recruitment.
