The Department of Geography is one the first academic departments of Aliah University established in the year 2009. The journey of the department began with only 20 students of 2-Year M.Sc. and only 06 students of 5-Year Integrated M. Sc. in the academic session 2009-10. The department presently offers 4-Year B.A./B.Sc. and 2-Year M.A./M.Sc. courses. In addition to that, the Ph.D. degree programme is also conducted by the department. Research and teaching are given adequate and due importance by the faculty members. Research projects are encouraged to develop innovationnurture  and analytical approaches to learning. Experts in different allied fields are also invited for interaction and curriculum development, whenever necessary. The department is in the process fo developing a state of art Remote Sensing and GIS courses for the students so that they can have access to the most updated knowledge of this branch of Geography which is emerging as a potential area of recruitment. Among others department has initiate activities to establish Survey Laboratory, Meteorology and Hydrology Labortary, Petrology and Pedology Laboratory and also a Data Centre.
