Dr. Mohd Shamim Akhter  has gained Fazil & Ifta (specialization in Islamic Jurisprudence) degrees from Darul Ulum Deoband, Saharanpur, U.P. Obtained Masters & Doctorate Degrees from the Department of Sunni Theology, Aligarh Muslim University Aligarh U.P.  Obtained 2nd position in the International Essay Writing Competition in Urdu Language conducted by ICCR, New Delhi. Worked as a Researcher in Idara-e-Tahqiq-o-Tasneef-e-Islami, Aligarh. Joined the Department of Islamic Theology, Aliah University, Kolkata, West Bengal on May 2012 as Assistant Professor. Performed as Head of the Department from June 2014 to December 2015 and November 2019 to December 2021.At present he is serving as HoD of the Department after promotion to the position as Associate Professor. Published 06 books two of which were published by foreign international publishers. About 150 articles and research papers published in National and International Journals & Magazines. Attended more than 35 National & International Seminars & Conferences. Acted as a Subject Expert in the Board of Social Science in the Department of Comparative Religion of the Central University of Kashmir. Member of the Board of Madrasah Education Board Government of West Bengal also Member of Advisory Board and Review Committee of several Journals of Foreign Universities. He has special interest in the areas of Islamic Jurisprudence and Islamic History of India.
