Department of Nursing, Aliah University is a very new initiative taken to encourage female education, to help students to acquire sound technical and scientific knowledge and skills in Nursing Profession.

The Department of Nursing was established in year 2016 with its 1st batch of B.Sc. Nursing students with 60 annual intake.

It is always our core objective to impart quality knowledge and training to our students to prepare them a good professional career as well as citizen of this country and to develop awareness and carry forward their societal responsibilities.

The Department of Nursing is affiliated to West Bengal Nursing Council and Indian Nursing Council. It is under the academic control of Aliah University and administrative control of MA&ME Dept. Govt. of West Bengal.

Presently the Department of Nursing has 1 Professor cum HoD, 2 Associate Professors, 4 Assistant Professors, 1 Tutor (on contractual basis) and 12 Temporary Faculties. 

The Department also comprise of 1 Office Staff, 2 Security Staffs, 2 Housekeeping Staffs and 2 drivers.

The students avail hostel facilities at New Town Campus and Park Circus Campus. Students residing in New Town Campus avail University vehicle attend classes and clinicals. Students are posted for clinical postings at Calcutta National Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata and Calcutta Pavlov Hospital, Kolkata (for Mental Health Nursing). For COmmunity Health Nursing posting, students are posted at Chetla Urban Health Centre and Nalmuri BPHC, Ghatakpukur. Students have also been posted in CMRI Hospital, Kolkata and BM Birla Heart Research Centre, Kolkata as a part of their clinical experience.

Field visits to various institutions like Milk Dairy, Dankuni; Water treatment plant, Palta; Sewage Treatment Plant; Incinerator, Medicare Howrah; CSSD and kitchen of different hospitals, Eye Bank, Old Age Homes, Palliative Care Units, are arranged for students as a part of their curriculum.
