About the department

The department of Statistics & Informatics started its journey in the year 2009 with two regular students. After one year Prof. S. B. Bagchi joined in the department as a visiting professor (full time) and since then he continued as an in-charge till January, 2016. During this period some senior professors like Prof. G. M. Saha, former Professor and Dean of Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, Prof. A. B. Aich, Director of Studies, Netaji Subhash Open University, Prof. K. K. Mondal, former Professor of Mathematics, Burdwan University served the department. Currently the department has one professor and three assistant professors. The department runs five-year integrated course in Statistics & Informatics. From the academic year 2016-17 a new two year post graduate course in Statistics has been started. The first two batch students of 5-year integrated course have come out successfully and all of them are well placed.
