Dr. Jaidul Islam is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geography, having research interests in the fields of Physical Geography and Urban Planning. He received M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Geography from Aliah University, Kolkata, India, in 2012 and 2018, respectively. He also received a PG Diploma in Advanced Remote Sensing and GIS from Jadavpur University in 2015.

Prior to joining Aliah University, Kolkata, as an Assistant Professor, he served as an Assistant Professor of Geography at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Smriti Mahavidyalaya, Bankura (WB), from 15^th June 2017 to 5^th February 2026. During this tenure, he served in  capacities at Bankura University such as Convener, BRS, Dept. of Geography; Convener, PGBoS, Dept. of Geography; Convener, PGBoS, Dept. of Geo-Informatics; Convener, UGBoS, Dept. of Geography, etc.

He published as many as 23 research papers/book chapters in National and International journals of academic repute. One of the research scholars successfully earned his doctorate under his supervision, and three others are currently working under his guidance. Furthermore, nearly fifty PG students have successfully completed their Master's  dissertation under his guidance. He presented more than 35 research papers at national and international seminars and conferences and attended a large number of  training programmes and workshops. He also acted as the convener/co-ordinator of various national-level seminars and workshops that helped to enhance students' academic enrichment.

He believes that learning is a continuous process that can't be completed within a defined span of time. He follows the principle of ‘Never Stop Learning”.
