I joined the Department of Biological Sciences, Aliah University on 12 September 2019 as an Assistant Professor. I started my research career in the laboratory of Dr Amal Kumar Mondal in the Department of Botany and Forestry, Vidyasagar University. My objective of the thesis was to study the diversity and distribution of calcium oxalate crystals (CaOx) in the different parts of the plants and explore the taxonomic potential of the calcium oxalate crystals is interpreting phylogenetic relationships based on their degree of variation among the taxa. My research interest is to understand the genetic relationships and evolutionary pathways among plant species as well as by the use of molecular markers; we want to refine the taxonomy of plant species. I want to explore how molecular markers can clarify species relationships within the genus as well as between the families. I want to investigate how genetic data can aid in identifying rare or endangered species. By employing DNA barcoding and next-generation sequencing, we can understand how accurate plant taxonomy impacts biodiversity conservation, sustainable agriculture, and ecological resilience. My work on any genus or family could provide valuable insights into species differentiation and preserving genetic diversity.
