About the Department
The Bengali Department of Aliah University started its journey from 2009. Post Graduate course was introduced in the year 2009. From the session 2017-18 the UG course has been started. Presently the Department has six full time teachers, including three Professors and three Assistant Professors. Eminent writers, teachers, educationists from various fields regularly share their knowledge with our students through special lectures.
Mission
The mission of the Department of Bengali aims at equipping students with in-depth knowledge and intellectual tools to engage global and nation specific linguistic challenges arising in the area of literary studies. We want to empower students with an all-round academic ambience which would help them in realizing their own skills and capabilities. Not only that, we desire to nurture and produce students from socially, economically backward class and minority community with a focus on their intellectual, moral and social development.
Vision
The vision of the department endeavours to generate new knowledge and produce students who are trained in literary studies specifically in Bengali language along with interdisciplinary connections. The Department of Bengali strives to pursue academic excellence in Teaching-Learning process, Research and Extension. Our department aims to become a Centre of Excellence and to contribute to the society through the pursuit of teaching and research in the emerging areas in Bengali Literature, Language and Culture with a deep passion for wisdom, culture and values. We aspire to deliver the evolution of a new genre in literature wading through the changes of time and socio-political history which meant embarking upon new theories and concepts of language and literary terms.
